Susan Todd and Deb Arends are from Seattle Washington. Both are married and have gone through the process of picking out just the right songs for their wedding reception dances. While lots of web sites have lists of songs that are good for weddings, very few give information beyond that. There is a lot to think about when choosing great wedding dance songs that set the mood for the wedding reception.
Often a couple wants to learn to dance for their wedding, since they will be the center of attention. There are many resources that will help a couple learn how to dance. However, many of these resources do not go beyond the dance itself. How does the couple enter the floor? How is dancing with your father different from dancing with your husband? And many more.
The other information we found terribly lacking was what songs went with what formal dances. Deb is a dance instructor, so she can listen to a song and know what dance to do. However, being new to dancing, Susan needed Deb’s help to do this. Most people don’t just know what song to dance and need professional advice. Our goal is to make it so people have a list of what dances to do with which songs. Then the couple only needs to learn those dances.
We wrote a Book, “Music Makes Memories” to help couples figure out what songs they want to use for the important dances in the reception and videos to teach them how to dance and everything that is involved with the dances. This web site is just the start of that effort.
